Standing up for the salesman

Yorkshire Post - Motoring - - NEWS -

CAR sales staff have been criticised by for poor service.

Here, a father of one (no names, no chagrin) sticks up for his boy.

“How anybody can do his job without the backup of Hotel Mum & Dad is beyond me. He’s degree educated, works a minimum of 64 hours per week, has a very small basic salary, 25 per cent of his total take-home pay. He has actually had demands for 48-hour test drives and no chance of a sale.

“Does the same person who demands 20 per cent discount in a car showroom do the same at Tesco?.

“What do you say to a person having spent hours, days or a month doing a deal and then they fail on finance.

“And as far as a salesman looking at Google (mentioned by a reader), it may be that he has to deliver a car and was checking the route.

“My son delivered a car on a 600-mile round trip; he did check Google maps to plan the route. Remember, a small basic salary and no commission earned on this day out.”

SELLING POINT: Some car sales staff are not well paid and work long hours.
