Takeri takes on Mazda6 mantle

Yorkshire Post - Motoring - - FRONT PAGE - Frederic Manby

MAZDA gives us a good idea of what the next Mazda6 will be with this concept, called Takeri, having its European debut at the Geneva motor show next month. The body design is bold and forceful at the front and in places elegant with those flowing lines over the front wheels and into the sloping tail section. It is a long way from the current Mazda6, which, despite being a good car, lacked the visual image to hack it with the wave of strong contenders from Europe.

The new Mazda6, expected next year, comes with striking looks plus Mazda’s new economy system called SKYACTIV which debuts this spring on the CX-5 (see page 2). Briefly, it brings increased performance and economy by using ultra-high compression ratios and lighter construction.

The car seen here has the latest diesel engine with stop-start ignition, a six speed automatic gearbox, and introduces regenerative braking to Mazdas.
