Sporty Land Rover heads for the starting block
IF YOU fancy getting behind the wheel of “the fastest, most agile, most responsive Land Rover ever” you’ll have to wait a while.
The covers have been removed from new Range Rover Sport, which completes the three-model Range Rover portfolio, but it won’t be rolling into the showrooms until later this year.
Those into school runs and extended family outings (the family not the outings) will be pleased to know that as well as the quality fit, finish and multiple choice options we have come to expect from Land Rover, the new “road focussed” Range Rover Sport has a 5+2 seating option.
Unlike the Disco’s seven seater version for fully inflated bods, the two extras in this case are for “occasional” use and will probably be used by smaller members of the family keen to avoid the watchful adult eye of the rear view mirror.
Features which may be noticeable only behind the wheel include the Sport’s allnew aluminium architecture which has resulted in a weight saving of up to 420kg – a touch over 60 stone in old money – which means improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions.
No prices, as yet, but expect to pay more than the outgoing model.
ON THE WAY: The new Range Rover Sport is due in showrooms later this year.
