Mclaren on track with a powerful newcomer
ANYONE with a spare £200,000 and a desire to turn X-Box racing into the real thing will want to get their order in for the McLaren 12C GT Sprint – a high performance variant of the 12C.
The track-only model is built around a lightweight carbon fibre MonoCell chassis and powered by a 625PS, 3.8litre twin turbo engine linked to the 12C’s seven speed twin clutch gearbox. Sporty aesthetics include an “aggressive” front bumper, GT3-inspired bonnet with radiator exit ducts and front wing louvres. Ride height has been lowered by 40 mm and the suspension adjusted accordingly. Carbon ceramic (CCM) brake discs and racing slicks complete the picture.
Three handling modes allow the driver to select the preferred damping, roll stiffness and ESP settings. Inside, the 12C GT Sprint is fitted with an FIA-approved rollcage and integrated fire extinguisher system together with a racing seat and sixpoint harness. A carbon fibre dash houses the race developed digital display and key vehicle controls.
And just in case the car isn’t eye-catching enough, the 12C GT Sprint will be finished in McLaren Orange as standard.
The first 20 models will be ready to take to the track later this year.
