AFTER an eventful nine months as Entrepreneur in Residence at the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, Laurence Tomlinson will get more time next year to return full time to the racetrack.

The owner of Yorkshirebased Ginetta sports cars (part of his LNT Group) made major headlines in November when he accused some banks of foreclosing on businesses in order to make a financial gain.

Next year he will race a full season in a Ginetta G55 GT3 alongside Mike Simpson, Ginetta’s head of sales and an official factory driver.

Last July they were overall winners at Brands Hatch, tasting victory in the MSA Britcar Endurance Championship, despite starting from the back of the grid.

Tomlinson, a Le Mans GT2 class winner in a Panoz, said: “Whilst I will be continuing to work with Government in 2014, I am looking forward to spending my weekends back in the car.”

His first outing is the Dubai 24 Hour race on January 9-11.
