Happy apartment blessed with stunning features
WHEN Emma Thorpe began hunting for her first home in Leeds, the obvious choice was a newly-built flat in the city centre.
But the characterless properties that were in her budget were shoebox size with no storage and they proved no contest for the beautiful Wesleyan chapel conversion she eventually bought.
The property in the desirable suburb of Yeadon, between Leeds and Ilkley, is now a select development of 11 apartments.
Emma, a software developer, says: “I was moving from York to a new job in Leeds and after registering with estate agents I got a lot of brochures for new-builds, but they just didn’t appeal.
“This is the first property I looked at. I loved the character that separate the sitting area from the bedroom.
The first floor apartment shares a communal entrance on the ground floor and has a hall leading to an open plan living space with stained glass and Velux windows and a feature timber arch. The kitchen has cream gloss units and integral oven, fridge/freezer and washing machine. The bedroom has builtin wardrobes with sliding doors. There is designated parking outside.
Emma is selling to move in with her partner but she will miss her home.
“I’ve really enjoyed living here and have been really happy. It’s a lovely light, bright space and there’s a lovely community here plus a really nice park across the road, where you can go for walks and picnics.”
Yeadon is north west of Leeds. It has a Morrisons supermarket and a host of independent shops.
