Escape to a remote and incredible farmstead
Estate agent Tim Richardson of Whitby-based Richardsons and Smith called me this week to say he was about to put the ‘For Sale’ sign up on an incredible property that had been waiting in the wings for a year.
“Are you still interested in featuring it?” he asked, knowing full well that the answer would be “Is the pope a Catholic? Yes!” So this weekend I bring you Dale Head Farm in Westerdale.
It is, without doubt, one of the finest properties I have ever featured. It’s not a million pound plus grand design, it’s not got a fancy kitchen with a boiling water tap, the interiors aren’t the sort that Instagram influencers post and it’s not in the Golden Triangle.
It is much, much more special than that. Dale Head Farm is in a sublime, remote setting in Westerdale in the North York Moors National Park.
A post on the picturesofenglandofengland.com website describes the location perfectly: “The undulating countryside is awesome in its sheer splendour and tranquillity, it is peace and perfection everywhere. Very little disturbs this atmosphere of calm save for the chatter of wildlife species and for the sweet sound of song-birds. For the walker and naturalist it is indeed a paradise on earth.”
Tenanted and beautifully kept by the same family for over 60 years this is a very rare, perfectly preserved example of a traditional small farm from a long gone era. I hope you enjoy reading about it. You can find more pictures on out website yorkshirepost.co.uk.
