Builders call for law to curb cowboys
Survey: Small local builders say they are crying out for the Government to introduce measures to curb rogue traders and keep consumers safe, the Federation of Master Builders says.
In the FMB’s most recent State of Trade Survey, an overwhelming 86pc of respondents said it is time to introduce mandatory licensing for building firms.
With a focus on standards, licensing would professionalise the industry, remove rogue traders and help protect consumers.
Inflation and a cost of living crisis will raise the risk of a rise in cowboy builders, members say.
