More rental homes will be needed
Landlords: A report by Capital Economics commissioned by the National Residential Landlords Association, reveals that Government targets would result in the need for 340,000 new homes a year across the UK by the middle of the decade.
If owner occupation and social housing continue at their ten-year average rate of growth, private rented sector supply would have to increase by 227,000 per year. Ben Beadle, Chief Executive of the NRLA says: “Without urgent action, the increasing number of people looking for affordable housing will struggle with less choice and higher rents as supply dries up.”
