Study: Research by property portal MoveStreet­s shows that garden offices, garage conversion­s and kitchen renovation­s are money well spent when it comes to adding value to your home.

It says that a garden office is a good investment. It it will cost you at least £9,000 to complete but it will add 8.4 per cent to the value of your home. That’s £22,739 for the average UK home, meaning an overall value boost of £13,752 once the cost of the work is accounted for.

A garage conversion will cost at least £14,500 but will add £12,571 to the value of the average home. Kitchen updates and a new boiler also add value.
