Alert to landlords on cannabis farming

Police in Sheffield have uncovered a large cannabis farm in a private rented property.

The farms can involve large scale alterations to the home, including removal of walls and changes to the electricity supply, resulting in tens of thousands of pounds of damage to a landlord’s property.

Cannabis farms are an ongoing issue for buy-to-let landlords. A police spokesperson said: “You may not be aware but the landlord will receive a hefty bill to reconnect before being able to rent out the property. It’s worth being careful and vigilant if you rent a home out.”
