Holiday let advice and hotspots in Yorkshire

-

With the staycation boom expected to remain a fixture for 2022, Yorkshire holiday let owners are preparing for a recordbreaking year when it comes to bookings and revenue.

According to new bookings data from Sykes Holiday Cottages, so far this year Yorkshire staycation spots have seen a 31 per cent uplift in bookings compared to 2019, with Whitby, Scarborough and Filey proving to be the most popular.

Holiday let owners on the North York coast can expect to earn an estimated £35,000 over the course of an average year, a number that is expected to jump dramatically this year thanks to the rise in bookings.

In terms of what features people want from a holiday let, owners in the region can expect to make £4,000 more if they have a hot tub on site, and those who offer shorter breaks can increase income by an average of £2,000 each year.

Pet-friendly properties could benefit from an additional £1,000 each year, while good WiFi, a garden, open fire and coastal location have also been cited as factors which boost earnings.

To help prospective owners weigh up how much they could make from holiday letting, Sykes Holiday Cottages has launched a new income calculator which estimates average yearly earnings based on region and key property features. www.sykescottages. co.uk/letyourcottage/advice/ earnings-calculator/start

Bev Dumbleton, chief operating officer at Sykes Holiday Cottages, said: “This year we’re continuing to see a strong demand for UKbased accommodation, which is particularly the case in Yorkshire, and the revenue opportunities for those considering entering the market now could be substantial.

“Our new income calculator makes it easier than ever to estimate how much you could earn.”
