What you can do to help your home to sell

-

PROPERTY expert Jonathan Rolande, founder of House Buy Fast, says there are number of things people can do when looking to sell their home.

He says: “Nowadays, it is not solely about the outside of the house but more about what we can see on the estate agents’ listings.

“High-quality, built-in storage can add to the overall allure of the house and clutter-free space evoke feelings of calm and tranquillity, which is exactly how you want the buyer to feel when they enter the property.

“If the walls are in poor condition, perhaps with peeling or discoloured paint, it is a good idea to repaint them before listing your home for sale.

“While painting walls doesn’t directly increase property value, it can significantly speed up the selling process. Neutral-toned walls serve as a blank canvas for potential buyers and their imaginations.

“A well-maintained garden is important as people viewing the property, especially in the spring and summer, will imagine themselves there.

“Wildlife-friendly gardens teeming with bees and fragrant plants also hold particular appeal especially if they are lowmaintenance and full of life.”

The top DIY jobs he believes can boost a home’s value include sprucing up the front door with a fresh coat of paint and updating the kitchen, including painting old cabinets and replacing outdated hardware.

He also suggests addressing minor issues that often go unnoticed in day-to-day living, such as broken door handles, carpet threshold repairs, dead plants, wall stains and faulty light fixtures.

He also suggests trying to upgrade your EPC band, which thanks to high energy bills is now very attractive to would-be buyers.
