Lions show their fighting spirit
NATIONAL LEAGUE: Guiseley may be doomed to the drop but their resilience shone through in a goalless home draw against Maidstone United.
Interim Lions manager Sean St Ledger reflected: “I think it was a fair point, we both had chances. The effort was there from the players and that is the minimum I expect. We just have to keep going now.”
Guiseley headed into this game 12 points off safety while Maidstone were on a threegame losing run.
Maidstone’s Michael Phillips went close early on but, on the stroke of half-time, Guiseley’s Dayle Southwell was just off target.
Kayode Odejayi forced Lee Worgan into a save after the break and Blair Turgott headed against the bar at the other end.
Rowan Liburd was off target for the Lions before Maidstone’s Joe Anderson struck the bar from 25 yards.
