Beckwithshaw bested by Otley
WADDILOVE CUP: Otley, who are already hot favourites to take over as Aire Wharfe champions from Beckwithshaw, also ended their rivals’ hopes of retaining this trophy.
Beckwithshaw’s 154 always looked a low total to defend and even though Otley lost four early wickets, David Hester (48no) and James Davies (34no) eased them home with 23 overs in hand.
Guiseley shrugged off league form that has seen them drop to the bottom of the table and won a thriller at Follifoot.
Follifoot’s middle order – Yasar Ali (56), Chris Clark (41) and Josh Cutts (66no) – swept them to 260-8 and, despite James Thistlethwaite’s 52, Guiseley looked second best at 97-4.
But Damon Reeve (98) and Joe Fisher (68no) put on 158 and even though they lost two more wickets at 255, Guiseley clinched the win with a four off the last available ball.
Cameron Duncan (49) top scored in Pool’s 191-9 and even though Collingham’s tail-enders put up a spirited rearguard action, they were still bowled out for 143, Will Pallister taking 4-19.
Pool will next face Horsforth who eased past Tong Park Esholt’s 202 with five wickets and ten overs in hand.
