Yorkshire Post - Sports Monday - - CRICKET -

PRIESTLEY CUP: Holders New Farnley eased into the semifinal with a five-wicket win over Hanging Heaton.

Having already knocked out their other top-three rivals, Pudsey St Lawrence, no one left in the competition will hold any fears for the double-seeking side.

Callum Geldart (59) top scored in Heaton’s 224, but Alex Baldwin (48no) and Lee Goddard (67) led the successful run chase.

Kez Ahmed’s 4.5-over spell of 5-7 saw Gomersal crash out for 87, which Sam Frankland (42no) and Liam Collins (24no) passed to keep Woodlands in the hunt for the trophy they won two years ago.

Kabir Bashir took 5-32, but could not prevent Jonathan Booth (99) and Harry Clewett (52) helping Townville to 288 before Clewett picked up 4-61 as Wrenthorpe were dismissed for 209.

Dan Hodgson (68) and Patrick Kruger (50) were top scorers in Farsley’s 199-6 and, despite the efforts of Alex Stead (44) and No 9 Shoaib Hassan (31), Lightcliffe came up 24 runs short.
