BLACK SHEEP TROPHY: Hanging Heaton won their second trophy in as many weeks by following up the previous week’s triumph in the Heavy Woollen Cup with victory over Wakefield Thornes in the Black Sheep Trophy.

With David Stiff (4-46) and Aqsad Ali (3-6) pegging away, Thornes opener James Wolfenden (30) found it difficult to hang on to partners until he and Josh Shaw (22) put on 52 for the fourth wicket.

The innings was also plagued by rain breaks after which Heaton were sharp to pick up wickets and, with the final three going down in just eight balls, Thornes were dismissed for 142, which was adjusted under Duckworth Lewis to a target of 152.

Heaton lost their prolific opening pair of Gary Fellows and Nick Connolly with only 24 on the board, but any nerves were quickly calmed when Joe Fraser and Callum Geldart put on 88 for the third wicket.

When Fraser went for 52, Geldart (47no) saw them home with the help of Ben KohlerCadmore, who cracked five fours in making 22 in 11 balls.
