Duck chal­lenge in Abbey Dash fades

ATH­LET­ICS: Scot­tish ath­letes dom­i­nated the Abbey Dash in Leeds yes­ter­day.

Adam Craig (In­ver­clyde) broke away from a strong field on the re­turn from Kirk­stall Abbey to fin­ish with a lead of more than 100 me­tres ahead in a time of 29:08.

The women’s race was won by Fion­n­uola Ross (Shet­tle­stone) in 33:31 nar­rowly beat­ing fel­low Scot Mhairi Ma­cLen­nan (Ed­in­burgh Uni­ver­sity).

Leeds City’s Claire Duck looked set for vic­tory when lead­ing af­ter the half­way point but stitch put paid to her chances and she fin­ished fourth in 34:00, a dis­ap­point­ment but still a per­sonal best.
