5. Eurozone is back in favour, thanks to the rising strength of sterling. A year ago, the pound bought a measly 1.13 euro, but today the exchange rate has risen to 1.24, which Noel Josephides, managing director at Sunvil Holidays, believes is a key factor in the 26 per cent year-on-year surge in bookings for Greece 2013.

Bob Atkinson, travel expert at TravelSupermar, says: “The beach remains king for our holidays with Britons seeking out value-led all-inclusive package deals in destinations that we know and trust.”
