Child’s toy brought home the bacon
NO porkies! A child’s toy model of a sausage delivery van fetched £7,776 (including 20 per cent buyer’s premium) at Vectis of Thornaby.
The pre-war dark green Dinky bearing the name Marsh’s Sausages was in near-mint condition and said to be the best example ever offered by the world’s leading toy auctioneers.
But the surprise package of the sale was the Micro Pet Cherrryca Phoenix Series police patrol car, which made an astonishing £7,200, more than 30 times its pre-sale estimate.
A Marklin live steam tractor, below, dating from the 1930s realised an impressive £4,896.
