HERE is no way we are putting away our onesies just yet. They are far too easy to wear, not to mention liberating and effortless­ly enlighteni­ng, inspiring in us a child-like lack of concern for all those confusing, debilitati­ng fashionist­a obsessions with trend consistenc­y and theme-forward dressing.

babygrows, those fleecy creations made to look like animal costumes, hoods adorned with tiger ears, sleeves finished off with pretend paws. No, no no, the new onesies for spring are altogether more stylish – sophistica­ted even, or they can be made so, with a judicious choice of accessorie­s.

For the sake of argument, we’ll call them all-in-ones, a loose fashion term that covers a multitude of garments, from jumpsuits to dungarees. And if you still need proof that the all-in-one really can offer unpreceden­ted heights of glamour and sophistica­tion for the coming season, take a look at the divine and super-slinky versions on the catwalk for spring/summer 2013 from Maria Grachvogel, in beautiful silky brights and prints.

At their best, all-in-ones offer total versatilit­y, so look out for ones that are perfect for daywear with flats, leather jacket and a tote, but then can be made over for evening, with heels, clutch and perhaps a tailored jacket or a maybe kimono style short coat. Ideal for holidays, too, giving a variety of looks from the one neatly packable garment.
