Style your home with the beauty of wood

-

WITH 20 per cent off many ranges, it is the perfect time to make your home stylish and special with a wood floor. You get style, warmth and practicality. As there are so many woods to choose from it’s easy to create the look you want. But it is important to get your floor from the experts. John Boddy has dealt in wood for over 77 years and now supplies wood floors, door kits, skirting and architraves direct to the customer.

The company’s solid hardwood flooring range has 20mm thick floorboards with whatever type of finished edge you choose – be it plain, bevel, arris, or planed tongue and grooved (which can be with or without a secret nail pattern). All boards are end matched (ends of the planks are square and tongue and grooved), giving a sleek and seamless finish. This structural quality means your floor can be laid directly to the floor joist, over concrete, plywood or batten and do not have to be nailed over a floor joist. There is a great choice of timbers, price ranges and floorboard widths.

Oak is the most popular wood floor and with its vast range of grades you can cover the whole spectrum of looks. It ages well and you can select from clear grades through character to pippy and the more distinctive rustic. The new Brompton floor is a heavy character solid oak floor laid in random width boards to give a unique look and is well suited to period properties. Special finishes such as burnishing and fuming are available to select from.

If you have under floor heating, choose from the engineered floor ranges that include a new fumed and a new bandsawn range. It is not manufactured on site but carefully selected to match the John Boddy pedigree. A birch plywood base gives flexibility with a depth of veneer to give the look of solid hardwood. On display is a range of handcrafted engineered flooring; every board is hand finished to provide a traditional aged look. Be inspired with a cream or ivory limed effect finish or choose conventional, contemporary or period colours.

You can also get your floors finished to order. Choose from a natural oil finish to special effect brushed and limed floors or in tonal colours to match your colour schemes.

If you need doors, then check the solid hardwood batten door kits in character oak, American Black Walnut and tulipwood (tulipwood is excellent for taking a paint finish). The main panels of the doors are expertly tongue and grooved with an elegant bead moulding and customers can select from a single cockbead, double cockbead, double v grooved or studded finish. The new ‘Nidd’ door consists of random width boards with a cockbead edge in medium character solid oak.

This is supplied in kit form and can be easily adjusted in size.

Diagonal braces are available as optional extras so you can match with rebated door casings, door linings and stop lath. As the
