For some reason best known to themselves, Friday nights on Channel 5 have been reserves for slick American detective dramas such as TheMentalist and Castle, and shows in which big vehicles move from A to B. While we wait for the next series of their superb import IceRoadTruckers, there’s another chance to see this equally engaging strand. One of the best offerings sees how a collector of vintage aircraft finds a way of transporting a Spitfire from Duxford, Cambridgeshire, to Maryland, USA. Ironically, flying is out of the question; it’s a bit too far for this masterpiece of engineering.
