Helen of Four Gates

FILMED in Hebden Bridge in 1920 by silent film pioneer Cecil M Hepworth, Helen of Four Gates was based on a popular novel of the same name. When released, the film had people queuing around the corner to see it, but was long believed to have been lost or destroyed until it was discovered in a vault in Canada in 2007. The restored film is being screened as part of the cinema’s Yorkshire Day celebrations.
