BUYERS were bowled over by a team of Golly cricketers at the Vectis sale of the Martin family’s badge collection, with four counties at the top of the order. A Northants badge top-scored with a premium-inclusive £840, followed by Leicester, Warwick and Glamorgan, which fetched £696 each, and Yorkshire, which realised £552 – all against pre-sale estimates of £40-£60. The whole collection (previewed here) went for £14,000. Another highlight

was a 1937 George VI Coronation Golly (£648 against an estimate of £80£120).Vectis specialist Kathy Taylor said: “Buyers were eager to snap up the rare and unusual variations.”
