Channel 4’s factuallyinspired historical drama is a gritty, grimy affair set in Cheshire during the 1830s. The Mill tells the story of two groups: the Gregs, a wealthy family with businesses in England and the Caribbean, and the downtrodden people who work for them.
The premise has the potential to make the BBC’s The Village seem like a knockabout comedy but one of its stars, Kerrie Hayes, claims there’s more to it than unbridled misery.
“It sounds harrowing but it surprises you,” says the 26-year-old actress. “There
