Homegrown plants and lots more
WITH over 50 years’ experience, the familyrun garden centre and nursery Markham Grange Nurseries, in Doncaster, is an expert in growing plants and giving advice.
The nursery grows a large amount of plants on site, including bedding and vegetable plants all year round. By growing many of its own plants, Markham Grange has cut out the middle man, enabling it to offer competitive prices.
With a focus on quality, value and expert advice, the nursery is one of the leading suppliers of plants, garden wear and garden furniture in the area.
The Markham Café has introduced a new menu, packed full of great tasting homemade food including breakfasts, cakes and daily specials. A Sunday roast is served from 12.30pm onwards on Sundays.
You can also visit the Markham Grange Steam Museum, an unexpected surprise to those who visit. This is dedicated to the restoration and renovation of stationary and marine steam engines. Helping to preserve parts of British engineering history, the museum’s team has spent years restoring the 19th century engines back to their former glory. In addition to seeing these engines in full steaming action, the museum is packed full of technical information and history about each engine.
The museum is free to enter and opens every Wednesday, the first Sunday of every month, and Bank Holidays.
New for 2015, Markham Grange now has a garden furniture and giftware shop, selling a great range of garden and conservatory furniture, accessories and giftware.
In the Potting Shed, you can have pots and planters custom made by choosing from a huge variety of home grown plants. If you are more keen to learn, the team of gardening experts can show you how to make your own.
Watch out for events happening through out the year: Traction Engine Society Show, Bonsai fair, Chrysanthemum show, craft fairs and much more. Visit the Facebook page ‘Markham Grange Nursery & Steam Museum’.
