Pages from Yorkshire history sell at auction
A TENNANTS book sale produced some interesting Yorkshire lots. An 1844 manuscript relating to the Huddersfield and Manchester Railway and Canal Company fetched £564 (including premium), an archive of 18th century manuscripts concerning Lord Grantham of Newby Hall, near Boroughbridge, £648, An History of Richmondshire in the North Riding of the County of York (1823) £352, 170 pieces of ephemera relating to Harrogate, including broadsides, bill heads, letters, certificates and other documents £223, a 1610 map of the West Riding and “the fayre Citie [of] Yorke” £705 and an album of North Yorkshire-related postcards £329.
