Traditional service in state-of-art store

-

Tradition and innovation go hand-in-hand at Rodgers, a family business which can trace its roots back 130 years.

Current owners, William and James Browne, are the third generation of the same family at the helm of this quality furniture showroom, which was one of the pioneers of out-of-town retailing when it moved to its Monks Cross site in the 1980s.

This is a long way, in every respect, from the small drapery store which opened in the centre of the city in 1890, yet the principles upon which it was founded – of personal service and product knowledge – are the same ones by which it continues to thrive.

2018 saw the completion of a three-year, £2m expansion and improvement project at the store, creating a state-of-the art retail environment.

It increased the floor space from 50,000 to 70,000sq ft behind a striking new frontage and added a tearoom, which will reopen when Covid-19 restrictions permit.

Once inside, customers can browse through upholstery, bedroom, living and dining, soft furnishings, flooring and lighting departments, each one stocked with superior products from many leading brands.

Names such as Alstons, Brintons, Cormar, Duresta,

Ercol, G-Plan, Harlequin, Hypnos, Parker Knoll, Stressless, Tempur and Venjakob testify to Rodgers’ commitment to quality, yet at the same time they are also proud to say they will not be beaten on price.

So as well as travelling the world to seek out new products and designs, William and James also regularly check the prices of competitors to ensure the very best value for money.

The sheer size of the showroom means it is possible to stock a product range able to meet virtually every requirement, be it classical furniture for a traditional country cottage, contemporary lighting installations for a city apartment or anything in between.

The flooring department, as well as offering an extensive choice also employs its own team of tried and trusted fitters rather than sub-contracting the work as is the case with most similar stores.

William, James and their staff team are delighted to be able to welcome back customers to the store, maintaining those proud traditions which have served customers so well for 130 years.
