Dear Style Clinic
My eyebrows have always been very fair and sparse, but the problem has become much worse as I have reached middle age. I would love a strong brow look. What do you suggest?
I too have eyebrow envy and would love to have naturally straight, bold, dark brows, but alas, no – they are barely visible without help. It seems so unfair because, as we age and lose definition in most parts of our face, eyebrows can help add strength and definition.
I do recommend heading to a good brow bar for professional help. I like going to Shavata at Harvey Nichols in Leeds and to any Benefit brow bar – both always give excellent results and something to work with, until it is time to go again.
Even with my eyebrows professionally shaped and dyed, I still need make-up to make them stronger, so it is fortunate that there are so many brilliant brow products on the market.
Brow FX has a number of brow make-up options at reasonable prices, including palettes, waxes and a semi-permanent pen, but my favourite is its Brow Grooming Pencil, which has a push-up slanted tip at one end and a brush at the other, which makes it easy to create a natural-looking brow that stays put.
Sisley’s Phyto-Sourcils Perfect is a high-precision pencil to apply in feathery strokes (there is a video on the Sisley website showing how), brushing through after with the other end using a brush that really makes the strokes look natural.
Finally, EyeKo is a brow expert and its Featherblade Brow Pen gives a microbladed effect using a tip with four tiny brushes. Effective and easy. Good luck.
