Shepherdess strides out minus flock
The first series of Winter Walks proved popular with viewers and it returns to BBC Four for a second series, featuring a new set of guest walkers who reflect on their own life experiences as they explore dramatic landscapes with only a 360-degree camera for company.
This four-part series sees familiar faces talk candidly about inner thoughts, emotions and lost loved ones while out for a crisp stroll on different routes across Yorkshire and Cumbria.
Along the way they meet the characters who are familiar with the local terrain. The guest presenters also uncover secret histories, breathtaking views and unwind in the gentle sounds of nature.
The first episode features Yorkshire Shepherdess Amanda Owen, who crosses hills and fields through Wensleydale and Raydale on her Winter Walk.
Taking ancient routes first made by the Romans, Amanda meets fellow sheep farmers and exchanges notes on their shared occupation.
Crossing over the dale she drops down to Semerwater, ending her walk on the pebble banks, as the water laps at her feet.
This should be just the tonic as winter approaches and the temperature starts to drop.
