Dear Style Clinic
I am looking for some new ideas for pyjamas, both for myself and potentially to give as Christmas presents to my female relatives. What do you suggest?
I give pyjamas every year to my children, and have done since they were little, usually fairly inexpensive but cosy ones from the High Street. They are always well received – in fact, I see more of their Christmas PJs (I take care not to buy specifically festive ones), both over Christmas and the rest of the year, than I do of any of their other gifts.
Anyway, I am always on the lookout. This year, George at Asda has some lovely traditional black silky PJs with an initial on the jacket pocket. They seem only to be for adult women, however, which is a shame, as they cost just £16 a pair and would make great gifts for all the family. Still, they are rather stylish and so well worth checking out.
Also take a look at the Rosie collection at Marks & Spencer, for yourself or for a loved one. The floral print silky pair here is just gorgeous, perfect for lounging about at any time of day or night, and the statement print is contemporary yet timeless and suits all seasons – a really good choice for anyone, I think.
Finally, if you want to splash out, go for the ultimate luxury of pure silk. John Lewis has these beautiful loose-fitting silk PJs in a golden olive shade, rather Deco in that colour and with that soft sheeny glow to the fabric. Far too posh to give away, so I reckon those are personal keepers.
