This new BBC Radio 4 series, which is also available as a podcast sees hosts Mark Kermode and Ellen E Jones taking a look at the moving image in film, television and streaming.
The opening episode focuses on Steven Spielberg’s bigbudget (much-delayed) remake of film West Side Story, in UK cinemas this month.
Looking back to the ground-breaking 1961 original film, a New York set reimagining of the Romeo and Juliet story, Kermode and Jones make connections to other movies that have retold the tragic story of Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers, speaking to director Abel Ferrara about his film China Girl and to Baz Luhrmann about his 1990s hit Romeo + Juliet.
We also hear from Hamilton creator Lin Manuel Miranda.
