THE TRADITIONAL BETTYS WINDOW
The unveiling of the Bettys Christmas window is always a sign that the festive season is just around the corner.
The displays, like this one from last year, are revealed in November, with a dedicated team working overnight. The blinds come down as the last customer leaves, and when they rise again, Bettys has been transformed - not only with mouth-watering produce but also handmade garlands, swags and wreaths.
However, the meticulous preparations and discussions on new trends start much earlier – at the beginning of February – and the team is already giving thought to a special decoration for 2022.
This year, one of the highlights is a rather jolly reindeer wearing a Swissstyle coat, a nod to Bettys’ continental roots. Christmas windows have added to the colour and fun of the county’s high streets for generations – but no-one does it quite like Bettys.
