Plant of the week
Rhododendron Stewartianum: This is normally seen at its best in late February or early March. The striking blooms are white, yellow, pink or red and are often flushed a different colour at the margins. Like many rhododendrons, it has an upright habit, but unlike many rhododendrons it’s a relatively small member of the family – after 10 years, a healthy specimen is unlikely to be much more than four feet in height. It prefers a sheltered woodland position but it is not particularly difficult to grow.
