I feel I am continuing to hibernate, not least due to weather conditions and the fact that
I have very little to wear outdoors, except a couple of old coats. What do you suggest?
I have been feeling very much the same. It’s easier to stay in when the weather is so off-putting, and I really do not want yet another coat cluttering my door hooks. It already looks like a charity shop in my hallway.
So I have decided that cheerful quick fixes by way of luxe accessories are what I need to update my winter wardrobe and hopefully encourage me to head out both into town and the countryside.
I have always fancied a posh cashmere snood. Brora, which has a branch in Harrogate and is stocked at John Lewis, has a beautiful light and gauzy one in fuchsia pink – just the thing to brighten both smart and relaxed outdoor outfits.
Next, I need cosy, fur-lined boots. I adore these cute Hush Puppies Macie boots in water-resistant suede and faux fur trimming the upper, with an inside zip so your feet feel secure and protected from the weather. They are stocked at Charles Clinkard.
Finally, experience has taught me that a sturdy umbrella is an absolute must. Fulton Umbrellas has recently launched its first sustainable line called the Eco Range, made from recycled plastic water bottles for the fabric, finished with bamboo handles. They look lovely, and will hopefully withstand at least minor storms in style.
