I’m currently reading:

-

Francesca Wade’s Square Haunting,

which is a beautifully researched (and written) account of five remarkable women who all, at one time or another, lived in Mecklenburgh Square, in London’s Bloomsbury. Another on the go now has a rather gruesome title – Drive your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead,

by the Polish author Olga

Tokarcuk.

I’ve been listening to:

A Podcast that I’m involved with, which is called Politics Could Never….. which you can find on Chapel FM and on Spotify. We got six youngsters from the Seacroft area, aged between 15 and 18, and we introduced them to the world of voting, and civic responsibilities, and what involvement they could have in changing the world around them. .

On TV, I’ve been watching:

The rather creepy series with Erin Doherty, Chloe. It’s both written and directed by Alice Seabright. I’ve only managed (so far) to catch the first episode, and it is as clear as day that things are not going to end well. Doherty is a fine actor, and you can tell that she had a great career ahead of her.

The live performance I’d recommend is:

I could cheerfully sit through the recent Macbeth, at Leeds Playhouse, over and over again. Amy Leach directed it with such panache and such flair, and the designs were terrific – by Hayley Grindle. My next box set will be (or my last boxed set was): Parks and Recreation, which is just funny and stress-free and ideal for either binge-watching, or for just having a single episode.

■ Say Yes to Tess – A New Musical, Leeds Playhouse from Thursday March 24 to April 2. Bookings on 0113 213 7700, and details on info@ leedsplayhouse.org.uk
