Dear Style Clinic
I have got out of the habit of applying make-up in the morning. I used to enjoy doing so, but now I find it tiresome. What do you suggest?
I think many of us feel the same, now we have to get about more for work and meet-ups. I sometimes despair on catching myself in the mirror, dressed but make-up free. Make-up used to be part of my “get dressed” routine, and I am hoping it will be again.
To this end, I have devised a quick and easy routine. I have developed spot breakouts and open pores, so am using a new Super BB cream (BB stands for Blemish Balm) from Erborian. It goes on really well, gives a good coverage, which I need at the moment due to redness, and contains white ginseng and niacinamide, plus glycerin and jojoba, so it is smoothing, moisturising, brightening and calming, all at the same time.
I start with this, then do my brows (I feel I don’t really have a face without brows, just a blob). I am using Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil, which has a very fine tip for hair-like strokes and is waterproof, lasting for 12 hours. There’s an offer at Boots launching March 25 when you can buy the fullsize version and a free mini, and from March 24-28, at Benefit Boots Beauty Counters you can getaBrowTint&Waxfor£21 per person if you come along with someone else.
Then I use a multi-product for cheeks and lips. Dr Pawpaw products are natural and so easy to use. There’s a new Tinted True Coral Balm coming next month with aloe vera and olive oil, so I will be trying that.
Finally, mascara (and a tiny bit of eyeliner if my eyes look piggy) and that is me good to go.
GOOD TO GO: Benefit Precisely, My Brow Pencil, from March 25, buy full-size and a free mini, £23.50 at Boots; Erborian Super BB Au Ginseng, 40ml £39.50, 15ml, £18.50, at Space NK and uk.erborian.com; Dr Pawpaw Tinted True Coral Balm, £4.25 at Waitrose, www.drpawpaw.com.
