Friends Will Be Friends with Cat & Edith

-

AVAILABLE ON BBC SOUNDS REVIEW BY YVETTE HUDDLESTON

Hosted by good friends Cat Deeley and Edith Bowman, who have been through a lot together over the years, this new series explores the stories behind other lasting friendships.

The series kicks off with their own story – they candidly talk about how they first met more than 20 years ago, how they tell each other “absolutely everything”, what they have experienced together, how they have supported each other and what they really think about each other after all this time.

Other episodes so far include singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her mother Janet Ellis, who also happens to be her best friend, which leads to an interesting discussion about the mother-daughter dynamic; and old friends Radio 2 DJ Jo Whiley and her producer Anna Richards who became friends after meeting in a car park after a party 25 years ago.

In each episode, all the chat is interspersed with music that is significant to certain times in the guests’ lives and relationships. It’s a lovely listen.
