The third round of the combined Divisions 1 and 2 of the over-the-board 4NCL took place at the end of March at the Daventry Court Hotel. Yorkshire’s only representation are Chessable White Rose’s two teams.

Chessable White Rose 1’s first opponents were Wood Green and the top board clash saw England internationals Gawain Jones and Michael Adams play out a draw. Unfortunately for the Yorkshire side, wins by IMs James Adair and Jose Camacho Collados were not enough as wins from GM Justin Tan, IM Ravi Haria and WGM Katarzyna Toma saw Wood Green win 4.5-3.5. There was further disappointment as they once again lost by the narrowest of margins, this time to The Sharks 1.

Their 2nd team were much more successful. On Saturday, the bottom five boards all won as they defeated Gonzaga 5.5-2.5 while the middle boards provided the firepower on Sunday in their 5-3 victory over West is Best
