When it comes to classic Sixties movies, few are better than Mike Nichols’ film about a disastrous love tryst. There are four main reasons to tune in: Dustin Hoffman in his first major screen role, Anne Bancroft at her sexiest as the mature woman who tries to seduce his unworldly character, Ben, Nichols’ direction and, perhaps best of all, that Simon and Garfunkel soundtrack. Who could forget smash hits like The Sound of Silence and Mrs Robinson? Look out too for Katharine Ross as Bancroft’s daughter, who steals Ben’s heart.
