New dramaturgs at Sheffield Theatres:

Sheffield Theatres has announced the members of the New Dramaturgs Group, a cohort of five early-career artists who will work alongside Sheffield Theatres to develop their dramaturgi­cal skills and experience­s. They are Grace Waga Glevey, Fadumo Hassan, Tadhg

Kwasi, Erin Marsh and Ashlea Screaton. Grace Waga Glevey is a theatre maker interested in exploring dual heritage identity and class. Fadumo Hassan began her career as a screen actor and later transition­ed to theatre, exploring comedy, drama, Black history, and the supernatur­al. Tadhg Kwasi is an Irish-Ghanaian published poet, fiction writer and budding script writer. Erin Marsh is a writer, theatre maker, and games designer who creates immersive experience­s. Ashlea Screaton is a Yorkshire born and based creative, tutor and fantasy fiction writer.

Ripon Theatre Festival: Ripon’s second Ripon Theatre Festival opens next week, featuring more than 50 events over five days. Community performers will perform alongside a profession­al line-up of more than 20 visiting theatre companies and street acts. Headline events such as the fast-paced family-friendly Robin Hood at Fountains Abbey and Sense and Sensibilit­y at The Old Deanery are matched by smaller and pop-up events in local cafés and shops. The Market Place, Minster Gardens and Ripon Spa Gardens will be transforme­d into Festival Zones for the weekend with street theatre, music, mime, circus and dance on the bill. Junior Ensemble auditions: Rotherham Civic Theatre and Imagine Theatre will be holding open auditions to find their talented Junior Ensemble for this year’s family pantomime Cinderella. Auditions will be held on Sunday June 11 at Rotherham Civic Theatre. The auditions are being held to find young dancers aged 9-16 to perform this Christmas season.
