National Youth Theatre auditions:
The National Youth Theatre (NYT) have announced dates for a host of free UK-wide community auditions. Taking place in London, Birmingham, Bristol, Newcastle, Manchester, Glasgow and Leeds, the auditions are open to all young people aged 14-25, and disabled young people up to the aged of 30. NYT auditions give participants a sense of what it's like to be part of the NYT community and what courses are best suited to them. Auditionees will also have the chance to ask questions and meet creatives from across their city. Free Backstage interviews are also open online and in person for young people aged 16-25 interested in roles behind the scenes in costume, lighting, scenic construction, sound and stage management. In search of Hull stories:
Did you work in the fish factories in Hull during the 1980s? Or know somebody who did? If so, Hull Truck Theatre and Hull Maritime need your help. Their community production of Guts! The Musical – The Story of the Hull Fish Packers, takes to the stage at Hull Truck this summer, scripted by local playwright Maureen Lennon. Following Union Rep Peter Allen and 15 women from a fish packing factory in Hull, it tells the story of a groundbreaking case which changed the equalities act in the UK, forever. To make this local maritime story as authentic as possible, Hull Truck would like to connect with past fish factory workers to gather as many stories as possible. Contributions can be submitted until January 31 via a digital form on the Hull Truck Theatre website.
The Book of Mormon heads to Bradford:
Tickets have just gone on sale for The Book of Mormon, the global smashhit musical written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone and Robert Lopez, which will be coming to the Alhambra Theatre, Bradford for the first time with performances from November 5.
