Grantchester ITV, 9pm

When the eighth season began a fortnight ago, Leonard welcomed a new resident to his latest venture - a halfway house for ex-convicts. However, Elliot took steps to close it down last week, and Leonard and the residents faced harassment from the police. In tonight’s episode, the former curate begins to think he may have bitten off more than he can chew. Also tonight, an art exhibition at the university seems like a good way to cheer up Will who is still cut up over the recent accident in which a man died. However, the drinks reception is disrupted by a protest, which all seems harmless at first, until it becomes apparent a valuable painting has been stolen. Then, a little later, one of the college porters is found murdered. Is the killing linked to the protest or the theft?

Manson Speaks: Inside the Mind of a Madman Channel 4, 11.05pm

In 1971, Charles Manson was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder overs the deaths of seven people, including the film actress Sharon Tate. But did the infamous cult leader and his ‘family’ have more victims? Retired cold case detective Cliff Shepard thinks so, and using newly acquired recordings, he teams up with researcher Charlie Cook to investigate the brutal death of 19-year-old Reet Jurvetson in 1969. We see Cliff and Charlie offer new theories on Manson’s motives and attempt to link the deaths of Reet and John Haught with the killer and his associates. They also track down a prominent ‘family’ ex-member before Manson himself makes contact with one of their leads.
