Rockingham House ‘The Home of Comfortable Dentistry’ celebrates 25 years of providing dental implants this year.
Rockingham House ‘The Home of Comfortable Dentistry’ celebrates 25 years of providing dental implants this year. Dr Sharif
Khan completed his initial dental implant training in 1999 and has been providing this life changing treatment at Rockingham House since then. Sharif has a particular interest in advanced dentistry, and, after four years of additional study, was awarded the degree of Master of Clinical Dentistry from the
University of London in 2003. Many of his cases are on referral from other dentists.
All of the Rockingham House team have worked together for many years, providing personal service with a reassuring continuity. Dr Meera Aggarwal, who has a particular interest in the management of advanced gum disease:23 years, Pauline, Practice Manager: 17 years. Assistant Manager Laura 14 years, Dental nurses: Jess 15 years,
Emily 11 years, Becci 8 years,
Ellie 6 years. Other team members have returned after breaks: Debbie, Clare and Mandy started working over 20 years ago, and are back at Rockingham House today. Kelly, Sarah, Tahira, and Klaudia are the latest additions to the family. The team were recently awarded
‘All on 4 Centre of Excellence’ by Nobel Biocare- the original developers of the technique.
Rockingham House uses the state-of-the-art X-Guide dynamic 3D navigation system. The team travelled to Zurich for training in this technology, and recently attended update training in Rome. Rockingham House has one of only a handful of these units in the UK. One of the main benefits offered by the X-Guide is that it allows a shorter ‘time-to-teeth’ because the implants can often be placed during the same visit at which the teeth are extracted. In effect, it gives Dr Khan ‘x-ray vision’, allowing the implants to be placed into the best positions, utilising the available bone. It allows keyhole implant surgery in most cases, as there is no need to peel the gum back to see the anatomy during the procedure. Dr Khan says: “This is unlike the standard technique of raising the gum and then having to stitch it back afterwards – which
causes post-operative pain. Consequently, not only it is a fantastic development for patient comfort, but it also means patients can spend less time in the chair compared with conventional implant surgery. To sum it up, the use of the X-Guide makes the procedure quicker, simpler and more comfortable.” Combining the X-Guide implant system with the Magic Wand local anaesthetic delivery system is what truly makes Rockingham House ‘The Home of Comfortable Dentistry’.
