Opportunities at Sheffield Theatres:
Sheffield Theatres have announced a range of opportunities for artists as part of their 2024 Talent Development Programme. They include the Making Room Observer programme is an entry-level opportunity for aspiring creatives to observe and familiarise with professional rehearsal processes. There are two positions available to apply for: one for Chariots of Fire (closing date May 5), and one for A Doll’s House (closing date June
29). The New Dramaturg’s Group is a fourmonth training programme, meeting weekly and designed for local artists to nourish an existing skill-set by developing and gaining practical experiences with dramaturgy. Five are places available, closing date May 5. Local writers, who must be based in South Yorkshire, are also invited to share their work via the script submission window, open now until May 12. New arts and heritage officers appointed:
As part of a two-year engagement project, Kala Sangam and partners Keighley Creative, South Square Centre and Bloomin’ Buds Theatre Company have appointed four arts and heritage officers to deliver a programme of activities with communities across Bradford district. The four partners will form a network of creative venues. The four arts and heritage officers are Claire Hudson, Lauren Kelly, Amarjit Singh Bath and Gemma Bailey.
Harrogate Music Festival:
The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra (CBSO) will launch this year’s Harrogate Music Festival with a grand opening night performance at the Royal Hall. The concert, hosted by Harrogate International Festivals, takes place on June 8 and kicks off a summer season featuring the best in classical and chamber music. The CBSO, conducted by Ludovic Morlot with Oliver Janes as the soloist, will perform a diverse programme featuring Caroline Shaw’s Entr’acte, Carl Maria von Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.1 and Jean Sibelius’s Symphony No 2. More artists are due to be announced in the coming weeks.
