Inside No 9 BBC2, 10pm

Sadly, the anthology series’ latest run is also its last. Full marks go to its writers and stars, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith, for devising so many devilishly ingenious stories during the past decade - there surely can’t be any other show out there that’s featured so many top-quality and so very different plots over such a length of time. Certainly not in recent years anyway. The pair probably need a wee bit of time out of the limelight to recharge their creative batteries, but they are at least leaving fans with six more episodes first. The opener, entitled Boo to a Goose, takes place aboard a late-night train that breaks down in a tunnel. As they await rescue, tempers begin to fray…

Secrets and Spies: The Nuclear Game BBC2, 9pm

We’re fascinated by espionage. Its very cloak-and-dagger-nature, a secret world of dealings and doubledealings, intrigues and fascinates in equal measure. James Bond may have made spying big business on the big screen, but the real lives of operatives is far removed from that of 007. We’ve been treated so several documentaries about their activities over the years, and now here’s another. It’s a three-part series focusing on the KGB’s Oleg Gordievsky who, in the early 1980s, turned double-agent. This was the period in which the 40-year-old Cold War began heating up, and the arms race brought the world to the brink of nuclear war. Gordievsky himself is interviewed, as are former aides to Margaret Thatcher and Ronald Reagan.
