Double the Money Channel 4, 8pm

The TV schedules are packed with game shows offering contestants life-changing amounts of cash. But what sets Double the Money apart from the rest is that those taking part are not competing for an instant cash prize - instead, they have to take a relatively small sum of money out into the real world and try to double it. Presenting the show is Sue Perkins, who explains the first challenge the contestants, turn £250 into £500 in the space of 36 hours. As the clock starts, every team reveals a different money-making idea, from cake sales to cocktail classes, from buying and selling flowers to flogging gaudy glasses. Then, when the clock stops, the teams return to The Vault to find out whether or not they’ve managed to double their money and keep their place in the competition.

Reuben: Life in the Dales Channel 5, 8pm

The heavy autumn and winter rains wreaked havoc across the UK, particularly in the Yorkshire Dales. Thankfully for some of the residents there, Reuben and Sarah are able to help out. Their friend, stone mason Pete Roe, asks the pair to lend a hand repairing a 200-year-old drain, known as a culvert, which has collapsed. While Tommy is on holiday in Slovakia, Reuben enlists the help of fellow machine lover Myles Capper to fetch three very vintage machines which Reuben is hoping to fix and flip for a profit. Also tonight, a trip to neighbouring County Durham nearly ends in disaster when Reuben’s low loader throws a puncture, and when Sarah and Reuben start to investigate the rotten tractors, they discover there is more work than they bargained for.
