Deadline for entry to our environment awards rapidly approaching
THE deadline for The Yorkshire Post Environment Awards is nearly here with entries due in by the end of tomorrow.
We are looking for the most inspiring examples of work by businesses, schools and community groups to protect and preserve God’s Own Country.
It is easy to enter: just visit www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/environmentawards and follow the simple instructions on the website.
Judges will meet at the beginning of June to sift through the entries and pick out the best examples of environmental endeavour in Yorkshire.
Greg Barker, the Minister for Energy and Climate Change, will be the guest speaker at the awards ceremony on June 16.
He said: “These awards are the perfect platform to celebrate the achievements of individuals, community groups and local businesses from right across Yorkshire.
“They recognise and reward the tremendous efforts many people have put into protecting and improving their local environment.”
The Environmental Business of the Year, sponsored by North- ern Gas Networks, is a bestpractice award for exceptional improvements in business performance specifically achieved through good environmental management.
The Innovation Award, sponsored by GDF Suez Energy UK, honours excellence in the development and deployment of new and existing environmental technologies.
The Young People’s Award, sponsored by Asda, is for the school or college that does most to promote environmental issues among staff and students, as well as reducing its own environmental impact. The Community Award, sponsored by Banks Property, will honour the groups making their local area greener.
