Elderly tricked over ‘police account’

-

EAST RIDING: Two pensioners, both aged 76, have become the latest victims of a scam sweeping the region, transferring more than £17,000 to a “safe” police account.

The victims were rung by a bogus officer and told their bank accounts had been compromised and to contact a provided number. When they did they were asked for card details.

They then got another call from the “officer” suggesting they transfer money into a police account.
